Over Southwest ranges and Vancouver Island, heavy precipitation will ease to a few flurries or showers this afternoon as the low over the south coast moves into interior BC. Highest precipitation amounts near 20-30 mm can be expected over the South Coast and southern sections of the Sea to Sky ranges. Ridgetop winds will be extreme to strong southwesterly. 

Over the Northwest ranges, flurries will become less organized in the afternoon. Freezing levels near 800-1000 m over the Northwest Terrace region. Strong southwesterly ridgetop winds will ease in the morning.

As a low pressure system moves from the south coast into central BC, moderate snow will spread across most interior ranges. Highest precipitation amounts near 15 mm can be expected over the Kootenay ranges west of Creston. Freezing levels over regions south of and including the Cariboos ranges will rise to 1000 to 1500 m in the afternoon.

Strong southerly ridgetop winds will change to moderate to strong southwesterly winds this afternoon.

Periods of snow. Amount 5 to 10 centimetres. Strong southerly winds.

Forecast for Tonight - 4 p.m to 4 a.m PST:

Over Southwest ranges and Vancouver Island, flurries or showers continue as another Pacific low pressure system approaches Vancouver Island tonight. Moderate to strong southwesterly ridge will ease overnight.

A few flurries linger over the Northwest Ranges in an onshore flow. Moderate to strong southwesterly ridgetop winds will develop overnight.

Moderate snow will taper off to a few flurries tonight as the low over central BC moves into Alberta. Highest precipitation amounts near 10 to 15 mm can be expected over the Columbia ranges west of Revelstoke.

Moderate to strong southwesterly ridgetop winds will gradually ease tonight.

Periods of snow. Amount 5 centimetres. Strong southerly winds easing in the evening.

Forecast for Friday - 4 a.m to 4 p.m PST:

With a low moving into the State of Washington and another Pacific low pressure system approaching offshore, a few light flurries or showers continue over the Southwest ranges and Vancouver Island. Freezing levels near 800-1200m.

Over the Northwest ranges, light flurries persist in southwesterly onshore flow. Moderate to strong southwesterly ridgetop winds will gradually ease in the afternoon.

The light flurries over the eastern ranges will dissipate on Friday. A weakening low pressure system moving into the State of Washington brings light snow across BC interior regions southwest of Revelstoke in the afternoon.

On Saturday, the next Pacific frontal system impacting BC brings another round of heavy precipitation and strong southwesterly ridgetop winds to the Southwest ranges and Vancouver Island. Highest precipitation amounts near 20 to 40 mm can be expected over the southern sections of the Sea to Sky and the South Coast ranges.

Late Sunday, another Pacific system will bring periods of light to moderate precipitation to all of the BC coast. However, there is still uncertainty associated with the position and strength of this system due to different model solutions.

On Saturday, moderate to locally heavy snow will spread across the interior ranges as a Pacific frontal system moves across BC. Strong southwesterly ridgetop winds are also expected over southern BC.

A general drying trend is expected on Sunday. More precipitation may spread across areas near the U.S. border late Sunday as a low pressure system moves into the State of Washington. Currently, confidence is low for the position and strength of this system due to different model solutions.

Unsettled conditions will spread light flurries on Saturday and light winds. An arctic ridge builds on Saturday night and Sunday giving dry conditions and colder temperatures. Moderate outflow winds develop Saturday night and continue through Sunday.

The active weather pattern continues as a series of low pressure systems impact BC. 

With the low over Vancouver Island moving into central interior BC, heavy precipitation will gradually ease over the South Coast, while moderate precipitation will spread across interior regions. 

Extreme to strong southerly to southwesterly ridgetop winds will weaken this evening.

On Friday, a low pressure system moving into the State of Washington brings light to moderate precipitation to the BC coast as well as southern sections of interior BC.
