Enjoy winter and learn some safety tips
Enjoy Canada's beautiful winter landscape and learn how to stay safe from avalanches. There are a variety of events happening across western Canada and Quebec. Check out an event near you!
- Alberta Parks, Winter Safety Day, Saturday, January 19. Canoe Meadows Day Use Area, 11 am - 3 pm. Free winter safety activities, information and food.
- Apex Mountain Resort, Jan. 18. Info booth and BBQ.
- Banff Centre, Avalanche Awareness Night, Jan. 19. Max Bell Auditorium. 3-4 short films, 3-4 avalanche safety professionals presenting, mini tradeshow with local retailers, guides.
- BC AdventureSmart at Blackcomb Mountain, Sat. Jan. 18. 8:30 - 3. Near the Avalanche Hut, across from Rendezvous. Coquitlam SAR, Whistler SAR, Alpine Club of Canada, Ski Patrol and RECCO will all be on site.
- BC Parks, Brockton Point at Mt. Seymour Park, Jan. 18th & 19th : Come learn about avalanche safety with BC Parks and North Shore Rescue! Fun activities including quizzes, transceiver practice, and education on North Shore winter travel. Prizes to be won!

- Fernie Snowmobile Association, Jan. 18. Rolling Hills Cabin, 10 - 3. Avalanche awareness plus Snowmobile Demo Days bringing together four snowmobile manufacturers. Come on out for a fun day with other riders, local SAR team and the AvCan SoRo team.

- Marmot Basin, Jan. 18. Ski patrol will be hosting a range of demonstrations showcasing all the hard work they put in to keep our mountain safe and how you can recognize signs and warnings of unsafe terrain.
- Mt. Washington (Vancouver Island), Jan. 25. Activities will take place from 10 am - 2 pm out front of the Alpine Lodge in front of the Whiskey Jack Chair. See you there!

- Sun Peaks Resort, Feb. 2. Join Helly Hansen and Sun Peaks Snow Safety team for Avalanche Awareness Day on Sunday, February 2, 2025. Stop by the beacon basin, located at the top of the Sunburst Express, to learn about safe travel in backcountry terrain, the hazards that exist in the backcountry and how to avoid them, and where to get formal backcountry training and more information. Watch live demonstrations of companion rescue and take part in our avalanche rescue challengeavalanche rescue challengess!
